Namche Bazaar
Namche continues to be the main trading hub in the Khumbu, attracting merchants from both the Himalayas and lowlands. During the hike, trekkers can catch their first sights of Everest and nearby peaks such as Lhotse Peak (8,414m) and Ama Dablam (6,856m). Upon reaching Khumjung (3,780m), you have the option to visit the Hillary School before having lunch at one of its teahouses. Explore the local museum showcasing traditional Sherpa costumes. Namche also boasts stylish cafes and bakeries offering a variety of treats, coffee, as well as handicrafts, and souvenirs for purchase.
This day's trek can be physically demanding at times so it's important to be prepared as weather conditions are very unpredictable.
Descending Namche Bazaar will take around 1 hour on a fairly easy trail. Once back in Namche Bazaar, take time to immerse yourself in its ambiance while interacting with local Sherpa people to gain insight into their lifestyle. You could also explore nearby Gumba monasteries and chortens that provide a glimpse into old traditions and culture. Before heading back, enjoy lunch once again in Namche Bazar.
Khumjung
Khumjung, situated at an altitude of 3,790 m in the Khumbu region of the Solukhumbu district below Mt. Khumbila, is a charming village inhabited by Sherpa people. The village is located within the Sagarmatha National Park and boasts several chortens and monasteries to explore. While it offers fewer facilities than Namche Bazaar, common communication services like internet and mobile are available. It takes about one and a half hours to reach Khumjung from Hotel Everest View at a leisurely pace on an easy trail where you can immerse yourself in the lifestyle, culture, and traditions of Sherpa people while visiting local attractions such as monasteries and schools.
3:00 pm onwards: After completing your hike and taking in the stunning views of the Everest region, you will head back to Hotel Everest View. The rest of the day is yours to unwind, explore, and enjoy some peaceful time with yourself or your loved ones. You'll have dinner at the hotel and spend the night there. During peak season, a similar standard of hotel will be provided if bookings are full.
