Damodar Kunda Helicopter tour offers a journey to the sacred Damodar Kunda Lake nestled in the high Himalayas of the Upper Mustang region, Nepal.

In Hindu mythology, Damodar is another name for Lord Krishna. Described in the Barah Puran, a revered Hindu scripture, this holy lake holds significant importance as it is believed that those who visit and take a deep bath will be absolved of sins from their current or past lives.

The area encompasses three main lakes known as Brahma Kunda, Rudra Kunda, and Ananta Kunda situated at an altitude of 22,000 ft. within the remote Himalayan district of Mustang in western Nepal.

The pilgrimage site attracts numerous Hindu devotees annually; however, special permits are required for visiting Damodar Kunda. Normally, the helicopter tour takes approximately one and a half hours from Kathmandu and one hour from Pokhara.

Day 03

Flight to Muktinath to Damodar Kund and Back
Today, after enjoying breakfast, our heli-tour reaches its culmination at the serene and beautiful Muktinath. This sacred place holds great significance for spiritual people in the South Asian subcontinent as it is believed to provide salvation. Thousands of devotees visit this holy site to attain moksha by taking a holy bath on 108 waterspouts known as Muktidhara and in two Kundas called Mukti Kunda located in front of the temple. It is believed that bathing under these chilled water spouts brings salvation. Devotees also have darshan and worship at the Muktinath god before walking to Jwalamai Temple.
Afterwards, our Heli-Tour concludes at Damodarkund Lake which is situated at an altitude of 22,000 feet in Mustang district, western Nepal. The area includes three lakes named Brahma Kunda, Rudra Kunda, and Ananta Kunda along with a large meadow of Kusha grass. As a shrine containing shaligram stones – considered extremely important for Hindus worldwide – devout followers perform personal rituals here and take a dip in this icy cold lake with hopes of being absolved from all sins for their lifetime.
Following your visits to Muktinath and Damodar Kund, you will return by helicopter to Pokhara where you can spend time sightseeing or simply relaxing after your incredible journey filled with spirituality and natural beauty.

Review

This helicopter tour to Damodar Kunda was an unforgettable experience! Soaring above the Himalayas and witnessing the majestic peaks was breathtaking. Landing at Muktinath Temple added a spiritual touch to the trip. The tour was well-organized, and the Sherpa Village ensured a smooth and safe journey.

The helicopter ride to Damodar Kunda was an incredible way to see the Annapurna region. The views were phenomenal, and landing by the sacred lake was a unique experience. However, the brief stop at Muktinath felt a bit rushed. Overall, a fantastic adventure for those who want to avoid the trek and witness the beauty of the Himalayas from above.

Sherpa Village Trek was professional and handled everything efficiently. This helicopter tour was the perfect solution for me to experience Damodar Kunda with limited time in Nepal. The bird’s-eye view of the mountains was awe-inspiring, and the holy significance of the place added another dimension to the trip.
