Bhutan, officially known as the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a small landlocked country located in the southern part of Mt. Everest with the second least population after Maldives in South Asia. This beautiful and naturally diverse nation boasts an ancient Buddhist cultural heritage that is vibrantly expressed through its majestic landscapes, breathtaking views, and deeply rooted traditions.

The Bhutan tour package offers a 3-day itinerary specially crafted to delve into the intriguing mysteries and wonders of this amazing kingdom. Despite its short duration, this tour allows you to explore top attractions around Bhutan where natural beauty harmoniously blends with architectural marvels and rich cultural heritage.

Immerse yourself in various captivating activities and sightseeing tours during these three days. Embark on an awe-inspiring sightseeing tour of Thimpu, the capital city renowned for housing Bhutan’s largest Buddha statue at Kuenselphodrang Nature Park while also providing sweeping vistas from the picturesque Kuenselcholing viewpoint among other enchanting experiences.

You will have the opportunity to deeply immerse yourself in Paro City. Your exploration will also include visits to various ancient Buddhist monasteries that hold centuries of history and cultural significance. These sacred sites are not only repositories of spiritual wisdom but also showcase exquisite art and remarkable architectural prowess.

One notable highlight is the hike up to Tiger’s Nest monastery, a revered sanctuary dating back to the 17th century, where you can marvel at its timeless beauty while appreciating its historical importance. For those who prefer a less strenuous experience, an enthralling tour around a traditional farmhouse beckons with promises of authentic encounters.

Moreover, we can arrange for an overnight sojourn at the farmhouse for anyone interested in delving deeper into Bhutanese life by engaging closely with local residents. This offers an invaluable glimpse into their daily routines and customs, providing insights beyond what luxury accommodations offer. Additionally, partaking in typical Bhutanese cuisine and dressing up in traditional attire presents enriching opportunities for cultural immersion.

Day 01

Arrival at Paro Airport and then Drive to Thimpu
A scenic flight to Paro Airport offers stunning views of Mt. Everest in clear weather. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Sherpa Village Trek. The journey continues with visits to various sightseeing spots before driving to the capital city of Thimpu. One such spot is the Kuenselcholing View Point, where you can admire the Thimphu Valley from the iconic Buddha Point. You can also pay your respects and say prayers at this location which features Bhutan's largest statue of Buddha before exploring more of the surrounding valley.

Another notable stop is Memorial Chorten, constructed in honor of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, considered a key figure in Bhutanese modern history. Lastly, we will visit Tashichho Dzong - a 17th-century fortress that holds historical significance as it houses official buildings including the king's office and central monk quarters.

Day 02

Paro and Taktshang Monastery Hiking
We start the day with an early breakfast and then head out for a scenic drive to the charming city of Paro. Our first stop is the famous Taktshang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest, which sits 800m/2640ft high on a seemingly vertical cliff. This cultural icon was tragically affected by fire in April 1998 but has since been meticulously restored to its former glory.

Legend has it that in the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche/Padmasambhava (2nd Buddha) flew on the back of a tigress to the site where the monastery stands today. The trek involves approximately five hours of hiking round trip, featuring both gentle and steep stretches along stony footpaths as well as smoother pathways - although there is an option to ride upward on horseback at an additional cost of US$25 per person if preferred.

The alternative visit includes experiencing traditional Bhutanese living styles at a local farmhouse where we can partake in authentic meals and even take hot stone baths for an extra charge of US$25 per person.

As evening approaches, we take a leisurely stroll through the picturesque streets of Paro.

FAQ

Can I tour Bhutan independently?

It is not possible to obtain an entry visa for Bhutan unless you have pre-booked a land tour itinerary with an authorized tour operator and paid the required all-inclusive government tariff. The Bhutanese government restricts independent visitors to preserve its cultural and ecological integrity. However, during your hike, visits to local markets, villages, and interactions with locals can be quite flexible. You can organize your private tour without having to join a group as long as it is arranged and prepaid.

When is the best time to visit Bhutan?

October to December is the best period to explore Bhutan, with clear and fresh weather and sunny skies. The months of January and February are cold, followed by dry and pleasant weather from March to May. By the end of spring, rhododendrons bloom spectacularly in a variety of colors across the hills. It becomes somewhat hot with high humidity from May to June, while the monsoon rain covers the mountains from June to September.

Will I have altitude problems in Bhutan?

Visitors to Bhutan generally do not encounter altitude-related issues. Our cultural tour itineraries do not exceed an elevation of 3500 meters above sea level. However, if you plan on trekking in Bhutan, you should be mindful of the potential effects of high altitude.
